Suffolk 60

The British Heart Foundation turns 60 this year and I will be marking the occasion. With support from Active Suffolk, we want to encourage as many people in Suffolk to take on a ‘60’ themed challenge.

For some, it could be completing 60 miles (100K) during the month of April (30 days) which is equates to roughly 2miles/3K per day.

For others, it could be committing to 60 minutes of relaxation every day, or undertaking 60 minutes of gentle activity, or 60 minutes of gardening in a week.  Remember it is a challenge to enjoy and improve your health, so set your own ‘60’ goal that works for you.

Whatever your ‘60’ challenge is, we want you to feel part of a community who can encourage, inspire and support one another. So if you use Strava please join our Team page https://www.strava.com/clubs/Suffolk60 and follow others in the County who are also taking part.  Feel free to share your photographs, routes and reasons for taking part.  If you’re unable to use Strava, a pen and paper to track your progress is perfectly fine!

We also have a Team Just Giving page should you wish to fundraise for additional motivation: BHF Suffolk60 fundraising for British Heart Foundation on JustGiving.  Simply click the link and then scroll down to click ‘Join The Team’.   If we could get 100 people signed up to each raise just £60, Suffolk could raise an amazing £6,000 to fund our life saving research and help those 98,000 people in Suffolk living with Heart and Circulatory diseases.

I will be completing 60 minutes of mindfulness each day to ensure my mental health improves throughout the month of April. This will be 60 minutes of calm for me whether it’s listening to a podcast, reading a book, spending 60 minutes in nature, doing some yoga or trying some mindfulness techniques to reduce my stress levels.

You can use the hashtag #SUFFOLK60 in any social media posts to create some noise locally about our challenge.
