Lockdown Activity Hero

Throughout August, Active Suffolk asked the public to nominate people within the local community who deserved recognition for their efforts in supporting, motivating and inspiring local people to be active during the coronavirus pandemic.

They were overwhelmed with the response and received a wealth of heart warming stories from those across the county who have gone above and beyond to keep local people active and healthy.

In total they received 382 nominations for 43 individuals across Suffolk! So it was an honour to find out I was one of the Lockdown Activity Hero’s.

Throughout lockdown I have been using my social media and blogs to inspire others to get outside and be active. My roles as an Ordnance Survey Get Outside Champion and Active Suffolk This Girl Can Ambassador I’ve been trying to encourage my followers to do whatever they feel comfortable with to make them feel good.

My niche specialism is Public Rights of Way which I enjoy educating people about and I’ve been encouraging everyone to make the most of what is on their doorstep when we have been confined to our local areas. It is lovely to be recognised as a Lockdown Activity Hero and I’m very humbled to have received the comments below:

“Charlotte has motivated me to get out and exercise with the natural gym we have on our doorsteps…she showed us how micro adventures within a 5-mile radius of home can be fun and beneficial for our physical and mental wellbeing…She has been positive and passionate about inspiring others to get out exercising throughout lockdown keeping us entertained with her own stories and pictures.”

“Her efforts have hugely impacted my life from feeling isolated and trapped within my own four walls she inspired me and gave me the confidence to get active in my own way. I’ve managed my first ever wild swim. I thought lockdown would ruin all my hard work to rebuild my mental state but with a bit of inspiration from Charlotte I’ve discovered new places to get some head space and to do what I feel is achievable without comparing my progress to others.”

“Not only has this benefited me but my whole family have been dragged out for walks to discover our local area. These walks boosted our moral and gave us a purpose to our evenings which was great as relationships were tested being stuck in the house.”

It’s amazing to realise that through my weekly ramblings and pretty pictures I’ve inspired people to become more active and helped people’s mental and physical well being during a global pandemic. I hope you all carry on enjoying my efforts to educate, inspire and entertain you with my outdoor shenanigans.
